Ascertain the Quantum of Smuggling (2015, 2019 and 2022)
Project: Our flagship project quantified, in both numerical terms and USD, the quantum of smuggling for commodities that comprised 80-90% of Pakistan's smuggling regime.
Impact: Changed anti-smuggling laws in Pakistan to be more rigorous. A national network of Customs Enforcement units were established for anti-smuggling operations. The report directly resulted in the largest crackdown on smuggled diesel. The IMEI registration was another direct result of the project, which resulted in Pakistan becoming moving from an importer to an exporter of mobile phones.
Creation of a Field Data Collection Application
Project: One of the biggest challenges companies face is access to accurate consumer data. The application created by our team had a quality control system with 19 built-in validation points. Based on the performance of the interviewer the data collected was flagged for possible issues such as not reading the survey verbatim, skipping questions, leading the respondent and most importantly, falsification of data.
Result: The margin of error between the data collected in the field was reduced to less than 3%. The accuracy of the data collected was validated by the sales numbers of the industry.
